Making a Pledge to Become a Plastic Free Champion
It’s Plastic Free July! A yearly global social movement, founded by Rebecca Prince-Ruiz OAM to stop plastic polluting the world.
This year we are making a pledge to become a Plastic Free Champion, to find out what else we can do at Kaboodle to reduce our plastic usage.
Did you know....
38 MILLION plastic drinks’ bottles are bought every single day in the UK.
We don’t think that's ok!
So, we gave every single one of our staff members a reusable Kaboodle Chillis water bottles AND a reusable Kaboodle coffee cup!
112 THOUSAND PIECES of plastic packaging leave UK supermarkets every minute.
We don’t think that's ok!
So, we reduced our shrink wrap by 90% by introducing a pallet strapping machine, and replaced the remaining shrink wrap with a biodegradable version.
8 MILLION PIECES of plastic pollution find their way into our oceans.
We don’t think that’s ok!
So, we replaced all our single use plastic cups at water stations with paper cups.
We also installed...
- A special bailer specifically for clear plastic packaging bailing, making sure all bails of clear plastic within our business are fully recycled.
- An EPS polystyrene compacter, to allow us to process all polystyrene in-house and fully recycle it.
- A new digital paperwork system, cutting the use of our paperwork, which was previously handed out in plastic sleeves.
